In Conclusion - Part 2

How did you like participating in a blogging environment? Did reading other people's comments help you to reflect on what you had read or your own practice? Would you like to do another blog next year? If so do you have a book to recommend? Thank you to those who have taken this medium into the classroom to use with your students. I sincerely hope you have enjoyed the experience.

I enjoyed this a lot. I liked reading the other teachers responses. It was a fun and easy group activity to do. It only takes 10-15 minutes to read the stories and type up your responses. I wouldn't mind doing it again next year if there was a good book to use. I used a few of the stories in my classroom to see how they worked and some of them helped out a lot.

I thoroughly enjoy this format. I know that my students have gained immensely from not only the blogging experience that I took into my classroom but also from the information shared. I would like to do this again next year. I think it is a great way to engage in a learning experience in our hectic and busy world. Thanks Sarah for giving us this opportunity.

I truly enjoyed this activity! I feel like I got to know my staff mates on a much deeper level. We are so limited on time and professional "chatting" just doesn't happen often. It was neat to hear how other professionals view teaching and different practices. My students heard lots of Teacher Talk phrases and terms!

It was interesting to see what another teacher took from the same reading at times and read their perspective on an issue. That's what is neat about blogging because our schedules don't allow us to chat in person with everyone on the staff. I also caught myself thinking about how I worded conversations with parents or in my personal life based on what I had read in this book. I think it was a worthwhile activity and a great way to utilize technology in our busy schedules.

Blogging here was a good learning experience. I did have to get over some hurdles when I couldn't get logged in, tried a few things and eventually had to create a new account. This was frustrating but also part of the "newness" of blogging for me. I think one of the great things about this blog was the ability to connect with my fellow teachers even when I am "in my cave."

This was interesting. Though I do not teach daily in a classroom, there were some portions that could be used in the health office.

I really enjoyed participating in the blogging experience. I would like to do it again next year. It was a great way for me to get a "peek" into other classrooms. We have so many great ideas and strategies going on in the building it is great to hear about them. Also, I enjoyed getting different perspectives on the readings from the staff.

I enjoyed this format. This was my first attempt at blogging since I completed some of my post graduate coursework. During my college experience, I did not know the people that I was blogging with. It was nice to have the opportunity to touch base with my North Ranch peers, especially since I do not have time during the day to get to know everyone. I also really liked the book and I want to thank everyone for putting their real self into it.

I enjoyed participating in the blogging (when I could get my comments published) It was a good team effort! Thanks to all of you who participated in my efforts. I loved reading the comments yes it did help me to reflect on my own beliefs and practices. I think we should find another book to comment on next year.

I enjoyed participating in the Teacher Talk because it was meaningful, had a purpose and was genuinely helpful in the classroom. I like the format. It is important to share with colleagues and be open to other teacher's perspectives.

I would certainly like to do more blogging.
Thank you.

It was really interesting to share experiences with everyone. We don't all get to sit down and talk with the whole staff every week about what we do in our own classrooms. I found many comments helpful and relatable. I don't have any other teacher books in mind right now, but this was fun and I would do it again. I'll have to think about that one. Totally not related: but I'm reading New Moon from the Twilight series. My cousin got me hooked when she came to visit.

I can see were Blogging can be a very useful tool for both teaching and learning. This Blogger experience was a little painful for me especially in the beginning. I feel next year might be easier because we all know how to blog now, (and that is a good thing). It was fun to see everybody take a bigger step into the use of technology.
A thought for the next blog might be about sharing classroom lessons that could involve Jabber or helpful hints for the classroom.
I can also see using a blog for technical issues because it is going to take a village to keep us all up and running.

I enjoyed participating in the blog. It was fun to read other people's comments and sometimes see things from a different perspective. I like the idea of doing another book next year.

I also enjoyed doing this. It was easy to do (once I put it on my weekly calendar!) and I liked reading the other responses. I also would like to do this next year.

I agree with others - this had a frustrating beginning, but became much easier as we overcame hurdles with login issues! It is interesting to see what others try in their classrooms, and find out what might be effective for behaviors we are trying to change. The articles were very quick and easy to read.

I have enjoyed reading everyone's blogs, and have enjoyed the blogging(when I've actually found the time to do so). I liked the comments, and it's nice to know that I'm on the same page as others in the building.

This was my first blogging experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it was an excellent way to get into the minds of my colleges since we don't get a lot of time to talk and exchange ideas. I would love to do it again. Thanks Sarah!

The blogging took some getting-used-to for me, though in the end it helped me with the online class I took where we had to respond to discussion questions and each others responses.

I have been doing this type of thing for a while now and I still can't say I am totally comfortable replacing face 2 face conversation with it. On the other hand, I had an opportunity to read responses from people I don't interact with very much and I found that to be very interesting and helpful to my own thinking process. I would definitely like to keep working on my skill as well as my comfort level with blogging although I can't think of a book off hand. I will keep my eyes open for some ideas though.

Thank you for this growth opportunity.

I have enjoyed reading the Teacher Talk selections and found comments written by others insightful! I liked that the format of the book allowed for short reads that could be quickly read and digested! Thanks for encouraging our exposure to new ideas in helping our students to become the best they can be - as well as ourselves!

I have enjoyed reading my colleagues responses. I know that in our Kindergarten team, we have often mentioned things about what we've read and blogged and how we've put this to use in our rooms.

I enjoyed this much more then I thought I would.I wasn't sure about speaking in such a public forum but it did get easier as time went on. I learned not only from the book but also from my peers. Thanks for the opportunity Sarah.

For me, I enjoyed being able to read and comment on what I read. I did read other teachers comments. I read the whole book immediately but this blog made me go back and reread some sections. If we were to have done this in a group face to face, I don't think that I would have commented as much.
I would like to do it again next year. With all there is to do it makes me take the time to slow down and read something that will help within the classroom.

I would definitely blog again and I have enjoyed my initiation to the blogging world. I have always had big respect for all of my colleagues and after reading their thoughts and some of their best practices, my respect is even bigger and I am proud to be a member of this learning community!

I would love to do something like this again next year. Not only do you learn a lot from the book, you learn a lot from your fellow teachers as well. It's all very interesting. I hope someone finds a book as good as this one for next year.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was an easy read and had some good tips. I really think it would be a good one for all parents to read, too. This is the first time I have blogged and it took me awhile to get into it. I have loved reading what others had to say. What a way to learn from your colleagues! It would be great to do this again next year if we can find a book that is similar. Thanks, Sarah for coming up with this idea.

I enjoyed the book and the blog. The book was a quick read but had wonderful insight into becoming a better teacher, very practical! The blogging was great! I was happy it was so flexible and you could do it on your own time. It was also wonderful to get to know everyone on such a personal level.

I didn't mind doing this at all. I liked reading the other responses and the book was an easy read. I would do something like this next year. I also think its great because it makes us blog which is what everyone is doing these days.

It took me a bit to get the hang of blogging but when I finally did I enjoyed reading the comments. It's nice to get a different perspective on teaching styles and techniques. We don't normally have time to just "chat" with each other and share thoughts and ideas and this gave us that opportunity.

I enjoyed doing this and hearing other peoples opinions. I like the way we were given a week to complete because I wouled to do this on the weekends when I was able to sit down and focus on this task rather than the 50 ones I have during school hours. I think this would be good to do not only with books, but with things that are happing here at the Ranch. It is nice to hear what others think and feel about certain things. I feel the students can benefit from this also.

I enjoyed reading the book and knowing everyone was getting the same information I was. I had to force myself blog. I feel I get more out of a face to face discussion. I wouldn't mind reading another book, but I wouldn't be excited about blogging again.

I personally enjoyed the insight from our staff members and their reflections on different chapters. it definitely helped me to evaluate my own thought process about what is best for our students and it expanded my teaching techniques. It was an interesting and thought provoking way to way to read and dialog about a book.

My sister who teaches in Kentucky just sent me a book called The Price of Privilege by Madeline Levine. I don't know if it would be good for a blog, but I read the first chapter last night and I think it's going to be a great book, not necessarily happy, but interesting nonetheless. The subtitle says, "How Parent Pressure and Material Advantage Are Creating a Generation of Disconnected and Unhappy Kids" When I'm done, let me know if you want to borrow it....

Blogging is much more enjoyable then being required to spent precious time before or after school in a staff book club gathering. The 21 century concept of blogging allows a person to digest the reading information at ones own pace and also read fellow colleges responses that assist in providing our own feedback to the required reading material. I would enjoy continuing with this format in the future. It's a good thing.

I really enjoyed this online learning community. It goes along with our theme of utilizing technology, and we can participate on our own time. I think we all appreciate the open format and respect we have for one another's comments. I would love to do this again next year- no specific book recommendation at this time.
